Singing and rhyming is so much fun, children do not realize they are learning. Songs bring awareness to the various sounds and devices of language. Rhyme and sing every day and your children's ability to read will be on it's way.
Two Leaves
Here is a leaf, yellow and brown
Here is a leaf that Johnny found
Put them together and you'll have two
One for me and one for you
Way up High in the Apple Tree
Way up high in an apple tree.
Two red apples smiled at me.
I shook that tree as hard as I could.
Down came the apples! Mmmmmm they were good!
The Trees Are Gently Swaying
The trees are gently swaying, swaying swaying
The trees are gently swaying, swaying to the breeze.
The flowers are gently nodding, nodding, nodding
The flowers are gently nodding, nodding in the breeze.
The birds are swiftly flying, flying, flying
The birds are swiftly flying, flying in the breeze.
The leaves are gently falling, falling, falling
The leaves are gently falling, falling to the ground.
Pretty Leaves are Falling Down (tune: London Bridges)
Pretty leaves are falling down, falling down, falling down.
Pretty leaves are falling down, all around the town.
(wiggle fingers)
Let's rake them up in a pile, in a pile, in a pile.
Let's rake them up in a pile, all around the town.
(make raking motions)
Let's all jump in and have some fun,
have some fun, have some fun.
Let's all jump in and have some fun, all around the town.
